Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) said it is recalling 1.2 million of its vehicles in the United States, and an additional 28,000 in Canada, due to a suspension fault identified on its Explorer model.

“A fracture of a rear toe link significantly diminishes steering control, increasing the risk of a crash,” said Ford in a statement. The recall is likely to cost the Detroit-based company around $180 million.
