  • The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) yesterday filed an application asking Federal Judge Lucy Koh to uphold her antitrust ruling against Qualcomm.
  • The FTC said in its application that it was in the public interest to uphold the ruling, given that an appeal could take years to be determined.

South Korean phone manufacturer, LG Electronics, also filed a similar suit opposing Qualcomm’s motion, saying that it was in the middle of negotiating new chip supply contracts with Qualcomm.

LG said that it would be forced to sign an unfair deal with the chipmaker if the antitrust ruling was suspended.

LG’s application claims that Koh’s decision “prohibits Qualcomm’s long-standing ‘no licence no chip’ position…,” which allows LG to negotiate a fair deal.
