  • The BBC has seen a draft letter by UK phone operators requesting the government to clarify its position on Huawei.
  • Phone companies have warned the government that the UK could lose its position as a global telecommunications leader if Huawei is banned.

The phone carriers say that they have delayed infrastructure investments as they wait to see if Huawei will be allowed to participate in building the UK’s 5G network.

A government spokesperson responded saying: “The security and resilience of the UK's telecoms networks is of paramount importance… The Telecoms Supply Chain Review will be announced in due course…, all network operators will need to comply with the government's decision.”
