Asian markets rally on Monday on Chinese trade data, elimination of Mexican tariffs
- China’s exports rose by 1.1 per cent in May, beating expectations of a 3.8 per cent decline.
Asian stock markets rallied on Monday on the buoyant Chinese trade data after news that the US decided to withdraw its proposed tariffs on Mexico. At 8.30 AM GMT, the Nikkei rose 1.2 per cent to 21,134 while the Hang Seng soared more than 2.25 per cent to 27,590, and the Kospi Composite Index advanced 1.3 per cent to 2,099. The Shanghai Composite, India’s Sensex and Singapore’s Straits Times Index too edged higher between 0.4-0.8 per cent.
