Bitcoin (BTC) passes $8,000 mark on Friday morning
- BTC hits high of $8.014 before pulling back to $7,991
- Wider digital currency market up after Monday’s correction
- Litecoin (LTC) climbs 8%, XRP advances 4.4%
A rally for cryptocurrencies on Friday briefly pushed the value of Bitcoin (BTC) beyond the $8,000 mark. BTC has made gains of 1.7% for the 24-hour period to 11.24 am BST, when it had it settled back down to $7.991.97.
There were also modest gains for the majority of altcoins on Friday as Bitcoin Cash (BCH), EOS and Ether (ETH) all traded higher against the US dollar. Meanwhile, Litecoin (LTC) has been the best performer after rising more than 8%.
