- Laptop intended for launch this week has been cancelled by Huawei (SHE:002502) as a result of blacklisting
- Follows speculation that Huawei will also be unable to license Windows 10 from Microsoft
Huawei’s Consumer Device Chief, Richard Yu has reported that the company has been unable to supply its latest laptop model, fearing that the launch of the product itself may have to be cancelled altogether. Speaking of the US blacklisting imposed on Huawei, Yu has cited that the fate of the product hinges on “how long the Entity List will be there.”
The intervention by the US government has resulted in numerous severances between non-US technology suppliers, including the UK-based ARM and Japan’s Softbank.
Huawei had intended to launch its new laptop model at CES Asia 2019, Shanghai.
