Japan’s economy expands at 2.2 per cent in the first-quarter
- The revised Q1 estimates follow the 1.6 per cent annual growth in the October-December quarter.
- Capital investment edged 0.3 per cent higher, while personal spending slipped 0.1 per cent.
Japan’s economy grew at an annualised pace of 2.2 per cent in the first three months of this year, from last month’s preliminary estimates of 2.1 per cent. On the quarter, the economy expanded by 0.6 per cent, a slight increase from the 0.5 per cent growth reported earlier, while the price-tracking GDP deflator rose 0.1 per cent QoQ from the previously stated 0.2 per cent.
