After closing at 48,481, the JSE gained slightly in overnight trading to open at 58,521. This was also the day’s lowest point because, after that, the All Share Index gradually gained and it traded at 58,925 at one stage. After that, it moved sideways to slightly lower, and about an hour before the close of trade it stood at 58,824, i.e. a gain of 0.59%.
The Industrial Metals Index gained 3.29%, and General Mining strengthened by 2.21%. The Non-Life Insurance Index has so far lost 1.47% and the Capped Industrial 25 Index showed a loss of 5.52% at press time.
