SURVEY OF CFO’S REVEALS PESSIMISM ABOUT BREXIT

  • 81% of CFO’s surveyed believe Brexit will damage long-term business environment in UK

A survey by Deloitte reveals that a large percentage of company finance chiefs are expecting Brexit to damage the UK economy. They feel that the long-term business environment will suffer because of Brexit.

Almost half of the individuals surveyed said they would be reducing capital expenditure and that they expect a reduction in recruitment. One in five said that there would be a scaling back of deal-making activity post-Brexit.

The chief economist at Deloitte, Ian Stewart, stated: “Put mildly, it's been a turbulent few weeks. CFOs went into March braced for tough times and the latest round of Brexit uncertainties have not materially changed that picture.”
