UK’s Science and Technology Committee to Question Huawei Over 5G Network Risks
- UK MPs to question Huawei in parliamentary inquiry on Monday
- Comes ahead of warnings from American officials of Huawei equipment’s potential to be used for espionage
The UK parliament’s Science & Technology committee is set to meet with Chinese telecoms firm, Huawei, following criticism of the Chinese technology firm from the Technical Director of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre and warnings from US officials.
Also set to attend the hearing are the chief technology officers from O2 and Three. With both companies having significant exposure to Huawei equipment, any proposed UK ban on Huawei’s technology is anticipated to pose a significant delay to the roll-out of 5G in the country.
