Stock markets in the United States generally opened higher today, in the process adding to their gains earlier in the week.
The Dow Jones opened 0.4% or 96 points higher. The S&P 500 began the day 0.3% higher and the Nasdaq opened 0.1% up.
Walmart (NYSE: WMT) stocks traded 3.6% higher as the market opened. The retail group announced mixed results for the first quarter in its earnings results, which went public just before closing time yesterday.
Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) opened 0.5% higher after the firm earlier announced plans to buy wealth management company United Capital.
