  1. Hi I would like to know what is the minimum of stocks purchasable?
  2. Hey Ryan, When it comes to the anonymity of digital currencies, Monero (XMR) has got to be the first to name. The main reason behind its popularity is because it’s incredible in making users anonymous. Its transactions are very hard to track as Monero utilizes ring signatures and stealth addresses which serve to preserve the identity of transaction participants. Komodo (KMD) is a second-generation cryptocurrency that started as a fork of Zcash and kept many of its features, such as the Zero-Knowledge Proof protocol for protecting privacy. One of the major distinctions is that Komodo operates as an atomic swap DEX protocol that fuels the peer-to-peer exchange AtomicDEX. Horizen (ZEN) is a blockchain ecosystem that provides its users with secure Z-Addresses and public T-Addresses that operate similarly to Bitcoin. Another Horizen’s feature that improves its anonymity is its broad node network.
  3. Hi Danny, The First Trust NASDAQ Cybersecurity ETF started operating in July 2015 to follow the NASDAQ CTA Cyber Security Index, which tracks the companies that develop and manage security protocols of private and public networks as well as technology devices. This ETF holds $1.27 billion in assets as of April 10, 2020. Another notable Cyber ETF to invest in is the ETFMG Prime Cyber Security ETF (known as PureFunds ISE Cyber Security ETF). It was rolled out in 2014 to monitor the ISE Cyber Security Index, which tracks companies that build hardware and software to keep data safe and companies that provide cybersecurity services. The first ETF owns larger, less risky companies, therefore it may be less volatile and prove to be a safer option for long-term investments.
  4. Hello Brian, here are a few tips to keep in mind when drawing trendlines: 1. It’s easier to draw a valid trendline in higher time frames 2. Even though the majority of trendlines will somehow overlap from high or low of a candle when drawing a trendline, try to avoid cutting through the candle’s body whenever possible 3. If you can’t fit it in the chart, don’t force it. Trendlines that don’t fit in the chart are not reliable.
  5. Hi Carlyn, Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash are both cryptocurrencies that serve as a payment system and for conducting online transactions. Bitcoin Cash came to be as a result of the Bitcoin’s hard fork - a dramatic change in the protocol of the blockchain. Both BTC and BCash are kept in a virtual wallet that lets users send or receive cryptocurrencies and conduct transactions. The key distinction between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash is the Max Blocksize Limit. BCash has a larger block size which increases the number of how many transactions can be performed at a time. Bitcoin Cash also has lower transaction fees.
  6. Hey, When it comes to trading currencies, traders need to know how much the currencies in the pair are worth in relation to one another. This relation is what makes a currency pair. Majors Majors currency pairs include a list of popular currencies that are paired with the U.S. dollar. USD is the strongest and most traded currency in the world because of the very powerful economy of the United States. The following pairs represent the world’s strongest economies and they are traded in high volumes: EUR/USD (Euro – US Dollar) USD/JPY (US dollar – Japanese Yen) GBP/USD (British Pound – US Dollar) AUD/USD (Australian Dollar – US Dollar) USD/CHF (US Dollar – Swiss Franc) USD/CAD (US Dollar – Canadian Dollar) Commodity currencies Commodity currencies involve currencies of countries whose economy mostly relies on the export of specific raw materials. Some of the major currencies such as the Australian dollar, Canadian dollar, and the New Zealand dollar also belong to commodity currencies. Gold and silver are actual commodities, therefore they also belong to this group and they are traded in U.S. dollars. Crosses Crosses are currency pairs that do not involve the U.S. dollar. In the past, if we needed to convert a currency, we would have had to convert the currency to USD and then convert again from USD to the desired currency. The most-traded crosses include EUR/GBP, EUR/JPY and the EUR/CHF. Exotics Exotics refer to pairs that consist of emerging or smaller but stable economies as opposed to large and developed economies like the majors. Some of the popular exotic currency pairs include: USD/TRY – U.S. dollar vs. the Turkish lira EUR/TRY – Euro vs. the Turkish lira USD/ZAR – U.S. dollar vs. the South African rand USD/MXN – U.S. dollar vs. the Mexican peso USD/BRL – U.S. dollar vs. the Brazilian real
  7. Hey Mark, The investment banking giant, Morgan Stanley, recently commented on low-cost air carriers, saying Ryanair and Wizz Air are the best investment opportunities in terms of risk and reward, and that easyJet could become an attractive option if demand recovers quicker than anticipated. Stocks of airline companies have rallied as global authorities started lifting travel bans, resulting in a 30% sector rise over the past two weeks. There’s a great difference in performance among air carriers in this year, varying from -19% for Ryanair to -60% for IAG, according to Morgan Stanley. "At this point, we continue to see a better risk-reward in Ryanair and Wizz, though we think that if the recovery in demand is faster than our estimates easyJet could be an attractive investment option also," said Carolina Dores, an analyst at Morgan Stanley. Countries like Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Portugal are lifting travel restrictions and planning to bring hotels and beaches back to service in July and August. As a result, shares of RyanAir advanced almost 12%. The largest German airline, Lufthansa, is a step closer to securing the €9bn bailout from German authorities after the company’s supervisory commission approved the bailout package on Monday. Ryanair plans to appeal the funding plan. The company’s Chief Executive, Michael O’Leary, said the “illegal state aid” will let Lufthansa participate in below-cost selling and “distort” competition in the market. According to analysts, easyJet is the cheapest while the Lufthansa is the most expensive when comparing share prices against earnings estimates, while Ryanair and WizzAir remain 12-19% below historical multiples. One of the reasons for such difference is because investors are worried about which carriers will have to mobilize capital, Morgan Stanley stated.

    Barratt

Hello Fernando, thanks for being here. Shares of Barratt Development PLC advanced 5% Tuesday on the London stock exchange. The stock of the residential property development company closed the session at 499.2p. The rise in stock occurred after the company announced it purchased the Oregon Timber Frame, one of the UK's largest independent timber frame producers. Over the past three years, the company build roughly 5,500 homes including a timber frame construction, as reported by the Scottish Business News. Most of Barratt’s homes were built using a timber frame construction in Scotland, as well as in England and Wales. The news company believes that Barrat will make at least 20% of its homes utilizing this method. Barratt has enough resources to buy the materials from the suppliers, however, those suppliers set somewhat higher prices to make a profit. That’s why this acquisition is very significant for Barrat as it will help te company reduce raw material costs and remove the need to work with suppliers. Cutting costs will, of course, help the company boost its profit margins and pay more to the stockholders. “Barratt is committed to increasing the number of homes we build using offsite construction as part of our overall volume growth aspirations and to mitigate the current skills challenges facing the industry. Oregon is the perfect company to help us do that, with a highly experienced management team, a skilled workforce, and a high-quality product,” said the Chief Operating Officer of Barratt, Steven Boyes. The company will attempt and achieve a 3% to 5% growth per year in wholly-owned home selection. Barratt already made a 2.6% increase compared to last year. Hope I’ve helped!
  9. Hi Jane, thanks for asking the question. An Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) could be compared to a mutual fund in terms of that it resembles a basket of different stocks and assets, which together create a single investment product. ETFs are constructed by major financial management organizations, mainly due to the Securities and Exchange Commission regulations and because only major institutions have enough resources to create an ETF. However, an ETF comes with more benefits than a typical mutual fund, in terms of costs and taxes as well. The process of putting together and redeeming an ETF is quite different than mutual funds. Buying mutual fund shares involves paying cash to the fund, which is then used to buy securities and create new shares. If the investor decides to redeem their mutual fund shares, the fund takes the shares back and offers cash in return. When it comes to ETFs, creating it doesn’t involve cash. When it comes to index funds, the biggest distinction is that ETFs can be traded during the day like stocks, while index funds can be traded only for the price that was set at the end of regular trading hours. If you’re looking to make long-term investments, this shouldn’t be a major problem for you. Trading at different times during the day will not greatly influence the value of the investment in 10 years. However, when it comes to intraday trading, you should go with the ETFs because they can be bought and sold like stocks. Still, this doesn’t mean that index funds are a wrong choice for long-term investments, don’t get me wrong. Even though they’re traded like stocks, trading ETFs is safer than trading stocks of individual companies, in terms of risk.

    Ripple

Hi Michael, Thank you for your question. Ripple has continued to trade sideways in the past few days. Honestly, the stock price looks a bit depressed to me. The volume isn't high and XRP/USD continues to record small candles trading sideways. Interestingly, Christopher Giancarlo, the former president of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) claimed that Ripple’s XRP should be regarded as a currency, not a security. “The increased adoption of XRP as a medium of exchange and a form of payment in recent years, both by consumers and in the business-to-business setting, further underscores the utility of XRP as a bona fide fiat substitute,” Giancarlo and his colleague Conrad Bahlke, said recently. According to these two, the XRP isn’t an investment contract and would fail to pass Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Howey Test. They believe that XRP “cannot be an investment contract as there is no contract or arrangement to speak of between Ripple and the overwhelming majority of XRP holders. On the contrary, the contracts that Ripple has entered into explicitly exclude general XRP holders as third-party beneficiaries”. Therefore, Ripple's XRP isn't a security in the same way as Bitcoin and Ethereum are not. “[G]iven the juxtaposition between XRP’s intended use as a liquidity tool, its more general use to transfer value and its potential as a speculative asset, XRP holders who utilize the coins for different purposes have divergent interests with respect to XRP,” said Giancarlo and Bahlke. Recently, Kevin Rose said, an early investor in Ripple, said that he still doesn’t see XRP as a currency, a view that is on a completely different side than the one of Giancarlo and Bahlke. Going back to the technical aspect of the picture, the bears seem a bit more confident that they can win the short-term game. If that's the case then we can expect a trip towards $0.1750, where the horizontal support is located. This step would mark the lowest levels in XRP/USD seen since April. I hope this answer was helpful.

    FTSE 100

Hi Michael, thanks for coming here. FTSE lost almost 1% today to close at 6,059.33. In addition, the UK blue-chip index recorded a three-week low of 5,957.49 in the morning session. Today's losses can be attributed to the deteriorating situation in China concerning the new COVID-19 cases. Investors are worried that the surge in new infections in Asia, Europe and the United States will translate into the reintroduction of the lockdown measures, although officials have played down such speculations. Shares of retailers and airliners were among the weakest on Monday as the recovery rally has been hindered by the increase in new coronavirus cases. As a result, Beijing has been forced to reintroduce strict lockdown measures and restart its mass testing campaign. These moves have been announced after a new wave of novel coronavirus cases emerged from the city's largest wholesale food market. Beijing officials reported 36 new cases on Monday, which brings the tally to 79 since three days ago. Still, many believe that China has become much more experienced and knowledgeable about the virus and the "new Wuhan" won't happen again. "There is no way Beijing becomes Wuhan 2.0. The world will see China's powerful capacity in controlling the epidemic, including (the) government's strong leadership, respect to science, public's willingness to cooperate and nationwide coordination of control measures. We will win again," wrote Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of Global Times. Moreover, investors are waiting to find out above the monetary decisions that the Bank of England (BoE) will announce this week. “We expect them to leave the policy rate unchanged at 0.1% and to add 100 billion of quantitative easing purchases,” said the vice president Peder Beck-Friis of PIMCO. This week's monetary policy meeting at the BoE will take place on Thursday, 18 June.
