0 Djamel Brahimi
For some time Trump bemoaned the fact that Powell kept raising interest rates, it now seems that he could be getting his wish. He has constantly tweeted, slamming the fed for its previous decisions to raise interest rates but now we are seeing a dovish fed and the market starting to price in a rate cut. On the last fed rate decision rates were kept the same but on top of that the statement was the big mover in the markets. Instead of indicating the expected one more rate hike this year they indicated no more hikes in 2019. Are we seeing the power of Trump in this decision from the fed? quite possibly. Most recently Stephen Moore (who Donald Trump may nominate for a seat on the federal reserve board) in an interview with the New York times that the central bank should immediately reverse their course and lower interest rates. It may be another reason for Trump to nominate him to the board in order to get what he wants, interest rate cuts.
