0 Ilija Rankovic
Nestlé (SWX:NESN) does indeed seem to be dipping its toes into the blockchain waters. The Swiss-headquartered food retailer announced in a press release today that it intends to utilise blockchain technology to track its products along the supply chain. The firm wants to become the first “major food and beverage company to announce that it will pilot open blockchain technology in this way.” In the pilot version of the tracking programme, the firm's factories and warehouses in the Middle East will be able to trace milk from farms and producers in New Zealand. If the results are good enough, the company wants to expand the usage of the technology to its entire supply chain. The main concern and aim of the pilot project is to see whether the system can be scaled up.
