0 Simon Mugo
Boris Johnson’s administration is off to a difficult start after EU president Jean-Claude Juncker reiterated that the bloc was not willing to reopen Brexit talks and that the deal struck by the previous government was the final offer. However, Johnson was not deterred by Juncker's comments as he urged the EU to reconsider its refusal to renegotiate the current Brexit deal, which he has termed as being totally unacceptable. This is the same issue that saw Theresa May leave number 10 Downing Street prematurely. If the EU does not budge, Johnson will be left with only two viable options, which are to call a snap general election and try to win a parliamentary majority, or to start preparing the country for a no-deal Brexit. Well, we cannot predict the future as the UK parliament is keen to avoid a hard Brexit, but this view may change if the EU refuses to budge as this would leave British leaders with little option but to back a hard Brexit given that they have rejected the current Brexit deal three times before.
