Hi Samir and thanks for the question.

Yes, indeed, the price of THETA token exploded this month to hit an all-time high at $0.4782. It has been announced recently that Samsung plans to pre-install Theta.tv streaming platform into all-new Galaxy S20 smartphones.

This way, Samsung will use Theta.tv to offer gaming and esports streaming service to its customers. In addition to S20, the new update will bring the service to Galaxy S10, S9, Note 10 and Note 9 smartphones as well, which amounts to more than 75 million devices over the world.

“We believe this commercial product launch is a critical inflection point in the adoption of the Theta Network globally. Our groundbreaking approach to streaming is a perfect fit for Samsung’s worldwide user base. It’s a huge step toward our goal of making Theta a global infrastructure for video content and data delivery,” said Mitch Lou, co-founder and Chief Executive of Theta Labs.

Separately, the Theta community is eagerly expecting a major platform upgrade that is scheduled to take place on May 27.

“No single group or entity will control the majority of THETA staked,” the Theta team wrote in a blog post, describing the upgrade as a “significant milestone toward Theta’s decentralization”.

Hence, the Theta platform is making the life of its token THETA much easier. The price action exceeded the previous record highs sitting at around $0.30, to extend more than 60% higher and hit record highs just below $0.48.

THETA is now ranked 28th by the market value.

Hi Samir,

Theta Network refers to a blockchain-powered video delivery platform that provides high-bandwidth content delivery based on a decentralized network.

The platform consists of an end-to-end infrastructure built for decentralized content delivery. It focuses on bringing video streaming and sharing to a higher level and facilitating content delivery. The platform has recently teamed up with Samsung and other important clients such as Silver.TV and Korean cable tv network operator MBN.

While the platform offers decentralized video streaming, the users can also use its native THETA on these video streaming platforms.

The core of the platform is the mesh network which is composed of a group of nodes that communicate with each other. The nodes are actually the heart of Theta’s bandwidth sharing business model, aimed to replace the standard content delivery providers.

The series of nodes consists of users who have access to a number of resources used for accessing video content.

Hope that answered your question.

Hello,

Theta is a decentralized content delivery platform, utilizing a Theta token-powered bandwidth sharing model. The emergence of video streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu happened in the same period as the rise of blockchain technology. The Theta team came up with the idea to try and merge these two within the same network.

What makes the platform exceptionally appealing is the incorporation of THETA token. The primary use of the token is that the users will receive it as an award for watching specific video content.

The platform has been backed by several big-name investors such as Sony, Samsung, Aelf and more. Samsung has recently announced its plan to incorporate Theta.tv in Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

While it is still far from mainstream, the platform’s decentralized and blockchain-based can greatly reduce costs for delivering quality video content. According to Theta team, reduced video delivery costs also means that the viewers will spend less to money for content viewing.

Best regards.

Hi Samir,

Great question.

Developed for streaming, the crypto-backed platform not only airs blockchain summits but also poker games and live eSports. While users can earn its TFUEL reward by participating in the site, the Theta Token is collected through staking.
The latest development Theta Mainnet 2.0 targets over 450 million THETA. It will utilize a Multi-BFT consensus and include participants from over 50 nations operating 509 Guardian Nodes. The build-up to the token’s network update was characterized by a massive rally.
Part of the gains came from the company’s partnerships. With Samsung, for example, future smartphone editions as well as 75 million existing units will feature the Theta.tv watching service.
Theta is also working with Google in a move that will see the tech heavyweight become the fifth independent validator node. The collaboration will involve the staking of 5 million THETA. Google Cloud will also assume the role of the network’s cloud provider.
Not forgetting the alliance with blockchain leader gumi Cryptos that aims at penetrating the Japanese market.

Hi Samir,

One of the reasons for Theta’s surge in May could be the rumours of its partnership with Google, which caused a significant increase in interest. At first, the rumours said that Google became one of Theta’s validators. However, soon we found out that Google didn’t buy Theta tokens, but allowed the network to place tokens in a node on the Google Cloud infrastructure.

Be that as it may, the network clearly has a future, but maybe not as bright as it looked at the end of May.

Hope I’ve managed to help.

Hi Samir,

Theta’s coins, THETA and TFUEL are trending sideways at the moment. Both coins surged following the rollout of the project’s mainnet 2.0 in May.

Meanwhile, the ties between the crypto and gaming industry continue to make progress as one more partnership was announced between the eSports platform Theta and South Korean social gaming platform Ludena Protocol. The users of the two platforms will now receive awards for streaming and watching the content.  Mitch Liu, Chief Executive Officer of Theta Labs, thinks the two companies are “ideal partners”.

Moreover, the deal will also bring the first rollout of Theta’s new Android project - Live Mobile Embed, which will allow users to stream Theta TV on their Android smartphones.
