Funding Circle Shares Extend Rally, Push Deeper Into Multi-Year High Territory

Funding Circle Holdings (LSE: FCH) continued its summer rally on Tuesday, with shares surging over 16% intraday to touch 226p, extending gains that have now taken the stock up more than 30% in July alone and over 55% year-to-date.

The move is not being driven by fresh news but by sustained momentum following the SME lender’s blockbuster Half Year 2026 trading update, released on 16 July.

That update showed revenue up 50% to roughly £138 million and pre-tax profit nearly quadrupling to £23 million, keeping the group on track for full-year guidance of at least £235 million revenue and £35 million profit before tax.

Since then, buying pressure has intensified. Elevated trading volumes, an actively shrinking free float — the company has already bought back £72 million of shares, some 18% of its issued capital — and a break above analysts’ average price target of around 220p have combined to fuel further gains, with some suggesting short-covering is amplifying the move.

Key levels to watch: Having convincingly cleared its previous 52-week high near 215p, the stock now trades in largely uncharted territory since its 2018 listing. Immediate resistance sits around 230-235p, today’s intraday peak; a sustained break above could open the way toward the 250p region.

On the downside, 215p (the prior high) and 194p (Monday’s close) now act as near-term support, with the 175-180p zone — last week’s pre-rally consolidation range — a key level should momentum fade.

Interim results are due 8 September.
