Henry Boot PLC (LON: BOOT) has announced a series of organisational changes aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving operational performance, aligning with its Future Ways of Working (FWoW) programme.
The strategic shift follows the sale of Henry Boot Construction, simplifying the group’s structure to focus on high-quality land, prime property development, and premium homes.
The core aim of the FWoW programme is to strengthen the group’s agility, resilience, and responsiveness while efficiently managing costs and improving the sharing of expertise across its various businesses. This initiative has led to reshaping some group functions and refreshing the Executive Committee (Exco).
Steven Stacey has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Stacey's focus will be on driving efficiency, collaboration, and alignment across the group, while overseeing central functions such as Legal, IT, Marketing, and Risk. He will report directly to CEO Tim Roberts and join the Exco.
Steve Errington has stepped down as Managing Director of Stonebridge Homes (SBH), effective immediately. Ed Hutchinson, currently Managing Director of HBD and an Exco member, will serve as Interim Managing Director of SBH. Hutchinson will focus on integrating SBH into the group through the FWoW programme.
Hamer Boot, currently Director of Investment and Funding at HBD, will assume day-to-day responsibility for leading HBD’s Strategic Board while Ed Hutchinson focuses on SBH. This ensures continuity in HBD's development programme and pipeline.
Jaimie Read has been promoted to Company Secretary, leading the CoSec team and reporting to the CFO. She succeeds Amy Stanbridge, General Counsel and Company Secretary, who is departing after 11 years.
These changes follow the previously announced appointment of Iain MacSween as Managing Director of Hallam Land, effective January 1, 2026, at which time he will also join Exco. This appointment ensures strong leadership as the company accelerates planning applications for new homes.
The CEO, CFO, People Director, and the Managing Director of Banner Plant will remain in their current roles on the Exco, providing stability and continuity. All Exco members will report to the CEO.
CEO Tim Roberts commented that “This restructuring represents a significant step in positioning the group for future growth, building on the strength of Henry Boot's long term foundations and track record. By refreshing our leadership and aligning our organisational structure with the evolving needs of the business, while better leveraging the superb range of skills and expertise we are fortunate to have across the group, we are confident in our ability to continue to create long term value and robust returns for all our stakeholders.”
