On Tuesday, Hochschild Mining PLC (LON:HOC) announced the appointment of Cassio Diedrich as Chief Operating Officer, effective September 15, 2025.
Diedrich brings extensive experience to Hochschild, having held senior roles at Vale and Glencore. His 15-year tenure at Vale included technical, operational, and business responsibilities, culminating in the role of Global Head of Mining & Technical Services for Vale Base Metals.
More recently, he served as Head of Business Planning and Mining at Glencore. Before joining Hochschild, Diedrich was Kinterra Capital's Global Head of Strategy & Portfolio Companies.
Diedrich's local expertise as a Brazilian national is expected to be invaluable as Hochschild completes an operational reorganisation of its Mara Rosa mine and progresses its Monte Do Carmo gold project.
This appointment follows the recent naming of Ediney Drummond as Country Manager for Brazil, indicating a broader restructuring of the company's senior management team and the implementation of a new governance structure.
The company is evolving its Senior Management team and implementing a new governance structure.
Eduardo Landin, Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the strategic importance of the appointment: “I'm pleased to welcome Cassio to Hochschild. His extensive industry knowledge and strong local experience made him the clear choice for this role.
“We're excited to have him on board and look forward to his contributions he will bring in the years ahead. This is an important time for Hochschild as we focus on maximising the performance of our existing operations while advancing our key growth opportunities.”
