ITM Power (LON: ITM), a leading electrolyser manufacturer, has launched ALPHA 50, a 50MW full-scope green hydrogen plant designed to establish a new global standard for scalable and cost-effective hydrogen production.
ALPHA 50 is built upon ITM's existing stack technology and is fully skid-mounted, prefabricated, and standardized. This design consolidates central process units and integrates redundancy for critical components, aiming to maximize plant uptime.
Its compact design facilitates easy configuration into larger plants and global deployment, requiring only tap water and electricity to reliably produce high-purity hydrogen at 30 bar pressure.
The plant is engineered for outdoor installation, capable of withstanding a wide range of ambient temperatures, which minimizes construction and civil engineering work.
ITM Power highlights its superior energy efficiency and rapid load change capabilities, optimizing hydrogen production.
ALPHA 50 is priced at €50 million, a figure ITM Power claims is substantially more competitive than comparable solutions. This aggressive pricing strategy could disrupt the market and pressure competitors.
