Vodafone Group Plc (LON:VOD) is making strategic moves to solidify its presence in key markets and strengthen its leadership team.
The telecommunications giant announced an acquisition in Romania and the appointment of a new Chief HR Officer on Friday.
The company revealed that Vodafone Romania S.A. and Digi Romania S.A. have agreed a deal with Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. to acquire Telekom Romania Mobile Communications S.A. (TKRM), specifically its post-paid customer base, for €30 million (before adjustments).
This acquisition follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2024. Digi Romania S.A. will acquire TKRM's pre-paid customer business.
The deal, expected to close in early October 2025, will also grant Vodafone additional spectrum and towers.
The Romanian acquisition is projected to yield notable synergy benefits and bolster Vodafone's overall strategy of building strong positions in growing markets.
In a separate release, Vodafone announced the appointment of Ruth McGill as Chief HR Officer, effective January 1, 2026.
McGill, who will join as Chief HR Officer Designate on November 1, 2025, succeeds Leanne Wood. McGill brings over 25 years of experience in human resources and change management, most recently serving as Chief HR Officer at ING.
Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group CEO, emphasized the importance of this addition to the leadership team, stating, “I am delighted to be welcoming Ruth to the team. She has a wealth of experience in HR and organisation change, which will be invaluable as we continue to change Vodafone and deliver our mission to connect everyone.”
