Legal & General Group Plc (L&G) has announced a planned leadership transition in its finance department, with Andrew Kail set to succeed Jeff Davies as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective December 1, 2025.

The move comes as Davies informed the company of his decision to stand down from his role to pursue another opportunity, marking the end of his eight-year tenure with the company.

The appointment of Kail, currently the CEO of L&G's Institutional Retirement business and Legal and General Assurance Society (LGAS), signals a strategic internal promotion.

Kail's extensive background includes 30 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he held senior roles, including Head of Financial Services.

His experience spans asset and wealth management, banking, insurance, and real estate.

Davies, who will step down from the board on December 10, 2025, will remain with L&G until the end of the year to facilitate a smooth handover.

During his time as CFO, Davies played a key role in L&G's strategic transformation, oversaw the implementation of IFRS17 and Solvency II, and contributed to key strategic transactions, including the divestment of the CALA Group.

António Simões, Group Chief Executive Officer, commented: “He [Andrew Kail] is already a valued member of my leadership team and has played a pivotal role in developing and driving the Group's growth strategy.”

Simões also thanked Davies for his contributions, noting that he “leaves L&G in a very strong financial and strategic position.”

Sir John Kingman, Group Chair, highlighted Kail's impact on L&G's growth and strategic development. He also acknowledged Davies' “fundamental” role in the company's success.

Andrew Kail stated, “I am delighted to be appointed as Chief Financial Officer of L&G at such an important time for the Group, as we press forward with the delivery of our ambitious strategy,” reinforcing the company’s commitment to continued growth.
