International infrastructure group Balfour Beatty (BBY) has been awarded a £315 million seven-year extension of the Warwickshire Highways Maintenance contract. This significant win underscores the company's established position in the UK infrastructure market and provides revenue visibility extending to Spring 2033.
The contract, awarded by Coventry City Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, and Warwickshire County Council, marks Balfour Beatty's third consecutive term delivering these services. The potential extension by a further six years could bring the total contract value to £900 million, offering substantial long-term revenue opportunities.
Balfour Beatty Living Places will oversee maintenance services for over 5,000 kilometers of roads and 55,000 streetlights. The company's proven track record since 2011, emphasizing effective asset management and value for money, played a crucial role in securing the renewal.
The company plans to implement a digitally enabled operating model. This includes a centralized planning and permitting system to consolidate data and enhance council oversight, potentially paving the way for AI-driven improvements in service delivery.
Philip Hoare, Balfour Beatty Group Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of long-term partnerships for essential infrastructure delivery. “This award reflects the confidence and trust our customers place in Balfour Beatty. Over the last fifteen years, we have worked collaboratively with our local authority partners to build a strategic infrastructure partnership that combines effective asset management and improving services to deliver strong, measurable outcomes.”
The contract is scheduled to commence in Spring 2026 and will support approximately 160 jobs, including graduate and apprenticeship positions. This investment in local talent aligns with the company's commitment to community development and skills enhancement.
