Jefferies Cuts Smiths Group Share Price Target as Estimates ‘Still Messy’

Broker Jefferies has lowered its price target on Smiths Group, citing continuing near-term challenges and estimates it calls “still messy”, though it kept its Hold rating on the shares.

Jefferies has cut its price target on Smiths Group (LON: SMIN), the diversified engineering group, to 2,675p from 2,750p. The broker kept its Hold rating unchanged, signalling caution rather than a call to sell the shares.

Jefferies said Smiths Group continues to face near-term challenges, without detailing which parts of the business are most affected. The reduction is a valuation adjustment, not a change of stance on the shares themselves.

Jefferies described consensus estimates for the company as still messy.

By retaining a Hold rating alongside the cut, Jefferies is resetting where it sees fair value rather than turning outright bearish on Smiths Group.

The move keeps the stock in a holding pattern from the broker’s perspective, neither a buying opportunity nor a reason to head for the exits. For investors watching the stock, the note offers a lower valuation anchor from a major broker, but not a signal to sell.
