Rank Group Accepts £5m Gambling Commission Settlement; Shares at 72.6p

Rank Group has confirmed a £5.0m Gambling Commission settlement over historical failings at its Grosvenor venues, matching a provision made in July. Shares were down about 0.7% at 72.6p in a delayed quote at around 9:15am.

Rank Group (LSE: RNK), the Grosvenor venues operator, has accepted a £5.0m regulatory settlement with the Gambling Commission. The company announced it at 8:00am London time today, as the market opened.

The shares were down about 0.7% at 72.6p in a delayed quote at around 9:15am, against yesterday’s close of 73.1p. They opened at 72.0p and have traded between 69.6p and 73.0p. That low is below the lowest intraday low since the 1st of July, 71.7p on the 5th of October.

It is a regulatory settlement in lieu of a financial penalty, meaning a payment agreed with the regulator instead of a formal fine. It covers historical failings in Rank’s Grosvenor venues business. Rank said in July that it had made a £5.0m provision for the proposed settlement in its 2025/26 accounts.

The Group confirms that, following completion of the Gambling Commission’s review, the Group has accepted a £5.0m regulatory settlement in line with the provision. There is no further impact on the Group’s profits.

Rank Group PLC, in its stock exchange announcement

A provision is money set aside in the accounts for an expected cost, so the payment was already counted. Rank added that, as it indicated with its 2025/26 preliminary results, remedial actions have been substantially completed.

The settlement was already provided for in the accounts. The settlement does not explain the earlier weakness.
