GBG Chair Richard Longdon to Retire

GBG chair Richard Longdon will retire on the 30th of November for personal reasons, leaving the board to find a successor with the shares near 52-week lows and interim results due on the 24th of November.

GB Group (AIM: GBG), the identity and location technology business, said chair Richard Longdon will retire on the 30th of November for personal reasons. The shares were slightly lower in early trading today.

At 08:10 UK time GBG was quoted at 154.2p, down 1.8p or 1.15% from yesterday’s close of 156.0p. That is a very thin early print of 344 shares, so treat it as provisional. The price sits about 8.7% above the 52-week low of 141.8p and the stock is down roughly 40% this year, from 257.0p at the end of 2025. The market value is roughly £353m.

Longdon has been chair since the 1st of September 2022 and will also step down as a non-executive director. The company said he wants to devote more time to his family and other personal interests, and the board thanked him for his leadership during an important period in the group’s development.

The board will begin a thorough process to appoint a permanent successor straight away, led by Senior Independent Director Liz Catchpole. If no permanent chair is in place by the 1st of December, Catchpole will become Interim Chair.

Catchpole thanked Longdon for his “considerable contribution to GBG” and said: “We look forward to building on the foundations established during his tenure.”

It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of GBG. I remain fully supportive of GBG’s strategy and future prospects and look forward to assisting with a smooth handover over the coming weeks.
