Morgan Stanley Lifts Diageo Target to $83

Morgan Stanley has raised its Diageo price target to $83 from $76, but the New York-traded shares closed at $94.47 on Monday, so even the higher target sits well below the market price.

Morgan Stanley raised its price target on Diageo to $83 from $76 on Monday, an increase of 9.2%. The listing the $83 refers to is unconfirmed. It is most likely the New York-traded American depositary receipt (ADR), which carries the ticker DEO, rather than the London shares.

That ADR closed at $94.47 on Monday, so the new target is 12.1% below the price. Against Friday’s close of $95.97 the gap is 13.5%.

The ADR is up about 9.5% in 2026 from $86.27, and its 52-week closing range runs from $72.47 on the 24th of March to $102.14 on the 24th of February.

On the 6th of August Diageo set out a $1bn cost-cutting plan under chief executive Sir Dave Lewis, with flat fiscal 2027 sales. The ADR rose from $88.43 to $92.80 that day and closed at $96.35 the next.

Diageo shares fell on Monday. The ADR lost 1.56% from $95.97, while the London shares closed at 1,775.5p, down 0.84% from 1,790.5p.

A dollar target for the ADR cannot be read directly against a price in pence, such as London’s 1,775.5p.

Diageo’s half-year results are listed for the 4th of February 2027, a date the company has not confirmed.
