Rentokil Splits Into Two Global Divisions, Names New Leaders

Rentokil Initial (LON: RTO), the pest control, hygiene and workplace services group, said earlier today that it is formalising its operations into two global divisions, North America and International, alongside new leadership appointments.

Shares were quoted at 355.7p in early trade, down 1.17% from yesterday’s close of 359.9p. That follows a much sharper decline that took the stock from 443.3p on 29 July to around 344.8p by 31 July, for reasons unrelated to today’s news, before recovering to around 363.5p by 6 August.

In a regulatory filing published at 9:30am, after the market had already opened, Rentokil said the reorganisation brings in new divisional chief executives, Phill Wood and Rafael Carrasco, along with a newly created role of Group Chief Transformation Officer, taken by Matt Jochim. The company, which built its North American business around the Terminix pest-control brand alongside a separate international arm, said the changes are intended to simplify its operating model and improve accountability across the group.

Rentokil said the restructuring is aimed at speeding the adoption of best practice across its divisions and supporting profitable growth and long-term shareholder value. The stated rationale centres on clearer lines of responsibility between the two divisions rather than any change to underlying trading, and the announcement made no reference to current performance or outlook.

The scale of today’s share price reaction, just over 1%, is too small to separate clearly from ordinary trading moves for a mid-cap stock at the London open. The bigger move in Rentokil shares came in the final days of July and first days of August, when the stock lost close to a fifth of its value for reasons unconnected to today’s announcement.

Rentokil gave no indication that the reorganisation reflects any change in trading conditions at the group.
