UBS Cuts Coca-Cola Europacific Partners to Neutral, Citing Stretched Valuation

UBS has downgraded Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (LON: CCEP) to Neutral from Buy, trimming its price target to $107 from $109, as analyst Sanjeet Aujla flagged valuation concerns following a strong run in the stock this year.

Shares of the bottling giant have climbed 19% year-to-date, outpacing much of the European consumer staples sector. In a research note to clients, Aujla said CCEP now trades at roughly a 20% premium to its European staples peer group — a gap he believes fairly reflects the company’s prospects at this stage, leaving limited room for further multiple expansion.

Notably, the downgrade does not stem from a deteriorating operational outlook. UBS acknowledged that Coca-Cola Europacific Partners could still raise its full-year sales guidance, a scenario that would typically be viewed as a bullish catalyst.

However, Aujla argued that such an upgrade is already “sufficiently captured” in the stock’s current relative valuation, suggesting the market has largely priced in continued strength in the business.

The call underscores a broader dynamic across parts of the consumer staples sector, where investors have rewarded resilient volume and pricing trends, pushing some valuations to levels that leave less margin for upside surprises.

For CCEP, which bottles and distributes Coca-Cola products across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and parts of Africa, the shift to Neutral signals that UBS sees the risk-reward as more balanced following the rally.

The revised $107 price target implies modest upside from current levels, reflecting a more cautious near-term stance despite an otherwise stable fundamental backdrop for the company.
