Rocket Lab Shares Jump in Second Strong Move in Three Sessions

Rocket Lab USA shares jumped for the second time in three sessions on Thursday, rising 4.7% to $73.61.

Rocket Lab USA (NASDAQ: RKLB), the U.S. space and defence systems company that builds satellites and the Electron and Neutron rockets, rose 4.7% to $73.61 on Thursday.

The shares traded between $68.92 and $75.46 over the session so far, a swing of more than $6.50 between the low and the high, taking them well above where they opened the day. Turnover ran at 1.03 times the stock’s average volume, in line with a typical session.

Rocket Lab’s market capitalisation stands at roughly $40.6bn, placing the stock among the larger constituents of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 universe that this screen tracks.

The desk’s movers screen flags moves of 5% or more in stocks worth at least $500m, and Thursday’s gain cleared both bars, with an earlier move of 5.22% on a company valued well over eighty times that minimum market-cap threshold.

That scale means Rocket Lab sits comfortably within the broad institutional coverage attracted by S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 membership, and the size of Thursday’s move made it a clear signal for the desk’s screen rather than a marginal one.

How unusual this is

Thursday’s rise is the second sharp move higher inside three sessions: the shares also jumped on Monday, the last time a comparable gain was recorded, before Thursday’s advance.

Two moves of this size within a week mark a notable clustering for a stock with 321 sessions of trading history, even though Thursday’s turnover was not unusually high set against its own average.
