UBS Says Investors Should Look Beyond the AI Rally to These Growth Themes

UBS said in a note Tuesday that AI demand should remain a key growth engine but urged investors to diversify beyond the AI rally, given the risks of single-stock concentration.

U.S. stocks rose on Monday in a tech-led rally, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gaining 2.8% and the Nasdaq rising 0.8%.

Tech fundraising dominated Wall Street. Broadcom arranged a $63 billion deal to finance chip purchases, SpaceX signed a roughly $40 billion equipment-finance lease, and Meta raised its equity fundraising to $97.5 billion.

“Without commenting on individual companies, we believe AI demand should continue to be a key growth engine,” UBS’s Chief Investment Office wrote.

The bank said hyperscalers’ September-quarter results in the coming days should provide more evidence on the sustainability and monetization of AI demand.

“But while we maintain a constructive outlook on the structural growth of the AI theme, high expectations and potentially wide differences in company outcomes underscore the risks of single-stock concentration,” UBS said.

The bank recommended that investors seeking long-term growth consider its Power and resources and Longevity themes.

It believes investment in AI and electrification is driving structural demand for data centers, power generation and grids. Aging populations and clinical innovation, including broader access to obesity treatments, should support Longevity.

UBS also highlighted opportunities outside the U.S. It remains positive on eurozone equities and noted that Asian valuations are at multi-decade lows. It expects Japanese stocks to benefit from AI-related capex, cyclical improvement and corporate reform.

“This approach can help investors participate in structural growth while managing concentration and company-specific risks,” the bank said.
