Petra Diamonds Shares Suspended Over Late Accounts

Petra Diamonds shares were suspended this morning after the miner missed the Saturday deadline to publish audited annual accounts, leaving holders unable to deal until the FCA and the London Stock Exchange agree to restore the shares.

The Financial Conduct Authority, the UK regulator, suspended the listing of Petra Diamonds (LON: PDL) shares from 7.30am today, and trading on the London Stock Exchange stopped at the same time, after the miner missed Saturday’s deadline for its annual report. Petra mines diamonds, chiefly at the Cullinan mine in South Africa, and says the audit of its accounts is not finished.

The shares last traded on Friday, closing at 2.3p, down 23.33% from 3.0p the session before. That close is 87.5% below the 18.4p reached on the 28th of April. There is no price today because trading is suspended.

FCA rule DTR 4.1.3R requires listed companies to publish annual accounts within four months of their year-end. Petra’s year ended on the 30th of June, which put the deadline on Saturday. In a stock exchange announcement this morning, it said the group audit remains in progress and it is working closely with its auditors to finish and publish as soon as practicable.

Petra had warned on the 22nd of October that it would miss the deadline, saying it needed more time to complete outstanding component and group audit procedures, finalise consolidated statements and complete audit reviews. It said its annual general meeting was likely to be delayed. The shares closed at 2.6p on the 23rd of October, down about 26% on the previous day’s 3.52p.

Line chart of Petra Diamonds' share price falling steadily from late April to the last close before the FCA suspension
Petra Diamonds shares fell from late April to the last close on 30 October 2026, the final session before the FCA suspended trading on 2 November.

For shareholders, the suspension halts dealing on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market. Petra intends to seek restoration once the accounts are published, subject to agreement from the FCA for the listing and the exchange for trading.

The slide predates the suspension. The Finsch mine entered business rescue, a South African court-supervised restructuring similar to administration, on the 29th of May. The shares closed that day at 10.7p, against 13.2p the day before.

Petra’s announcement was explicit that no date can be given for a return to trading:

Restoration will not be automatic upon publication, and there can be no certainty as to its timing.
