Convatec Group (LSE: CTEC), the healthcare group, has appointed Jill McConnell as Chief Financial Officer (Designate), succeeding Fiona Ryder. McConnell starts on January 1 and takes over as CFO on March 1.
Shares in Convatec were down 1.2% at 242.60p at the open today.
From the 1st of January 2027, McConnell reports to chief executive Jonny Mason, joins the Executive Leadership Team, and attends Board meetings. On the 1st of March 2027, she also becomes a Director and takes charge of Finance, Corporate Strategy & Development, Convatec Business Services and Investor Relations.
She has more than 25 years of finance leadership experience in healthcare and life sciences, mainly in the US. Her latest post was CFO of Fortrea, a US-listed contract research organisation with revenues above $2.5bn. She helped establish it as a standalone listed company after its 2023 spin-off from Labcorp.
Earlier, she held senior finance roles at Labcorp, including CFO of Labcorp Drug Development, and spent almost two decades at GSK, including as CFO of ViiV Healthcare.
The handover is staggered. Ryder remains CFO through the full-year results on February 23, 2027, and leaves at the end of February. The outgoing CFO will therefore present the results, and McConnell will take over investor relations days later.
Ryder became CFO in November 2025, and the company announced her departure in July. She said she had contributed to “the successful turnaround of a business that makes such a positive difference to patients and customers.”
Mason cited McConnell’s “deep healthcare experience, especially from the US which is Convatec’s largest market”, along with public-company CFO experience and a record in investor engagement and capital allocation. McConnell said the company has “a clear strategy, strong momentum and a compelling purpose centred on improving patients’ lives.”
McConnell’s base salary will be $700,000, with a maximum annual bonus of 200% of salary and a maximum long-term incentive of 325%. She will be based in the US and receive a UK accommodation allowance of $40,000 net per year. Convatec says the terms align with its approved remuneration policy, with no extra joining arrangements.
