Filtronic (LON: FTC) announced Thursday that it has secured a new $8 million (£6 million) contract with an undisclosed U.S. customer to develop, manufacture, and qualify a range of high-performance system-level products for satellite communications.
The agreement begins in March 2026 and is scheduled for completion in 2027, expanding the company’s offering in advanced amplifier technology built on GaN and specialised MMICs.
Following the news, Cavendish director of research Edward Stacey said in a note that the award underpins existing forecasts, noting that the development of GaN-based system-level products marks clear progress in Filtronic’s strategy.

He highlighted that the deal broadens the addressable market into LEO, MEO and GEO applications and added that, following a record order book and recent wins in European satellite and defence programmes, the company is “positioned for strong revenue growth in FY27E and over the next 3–5 years.” Cavendish reiterated its 225p target price on the stock.
Edison director Katherine Thompson said the contract provides further diversification in the satellite communications market and could lead to additional orders depending on the outcome of development work.
She described the win as supportive of Edison’s forecasts and emphasised the strategic importance of securing a new U.S. satellite customer.
Filtronic said the project will see the company design and qualify next-generation amplifiers using its proprietary high-power solid-state technology.
While the customer has not been identified, analysts believe the move strengthens Filtronic’s position across global space markets and reflects rising demand for system-level RF solutions in both commercial and defense-linked satellite networks.
