Howdens Sales Rise 6.8% on Acquisition

Howdens says Group sales rose 6.8% in the latest period, but the DIY Kitchens acquisition drove most of that. Pro-forma UK growth was 1.8%, and full-year profit guidance is unchanged.

Howden Joinery Group plc (LON: HWDN), the kitchen and joinery supplier, said Group sales rose 6.8% between the 14th of June and the 31st of October, though most of that came from an acquisition. The trading update was released at 7am today.

Group sales are up 5.1% for the year to date. The company also reported record sales during TradeFest, its peak trading period, and described macro-economic conditions as challenging.

The headline figure is lifted by DIY Kitchens, which is included in reported sales from the 23rd of June. Reported UK sales rose 6.8%, but on a pro-forma basis, which counts DIY Kitchens in both years, UK growth was 1.8%.

Year to date, UK sales rose 5.0% as reported and 2.4% pro-forma. Group growth on the same pro-forma basis was 2.1% for the period and 2.7% for the year to date.

Our on-going productivity and efficiency programmes are supporting competitive pricing across all our kitchen and joinery categories and are helping to mitigate inflationary pressures. We remain on track with the outlook for 2026.

Howdens expects Group underlying profit before tax in line with current market expectations. The company publishes an analyst consensus average of £361m on its website. This is not an upgrade.

Livingston added that DIY Kitchens traded in line with expectations and that its new route to market widens Howdens’ addressable customer base in the UK.
