Oracle Corp. (ORCL) announced that the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) has selected the company, in partnership with Druid Software, to design, deploy, and secure private 5G networks for NATO's critical research and development initiatives.

This strategic win positions Oracle favorably within the defense sector and is viewed by markets as a potential driver of increased revenue.

The CCDCOE, a multinational cyber defense hub located in Tallinn, Estonia, plays a crucial role in supporting NATO and its member nations through research, training, and exercises focused on cyber defense.

The selection of Oracle and Druid Software underscores NATO's commitment to enhancing operational readiness by establishing secure private networks across the alliance. A key component of this collaboration is the verification of Oracle's 5G Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) as a trusted solution for securing 5G roaming communications across NATO member networks.

This verification followed a successful pilot program, further solidifying Oracle's position as a leader in secure 5G technology. The SEPP, a core element of Oracle's 5G Core portfolio, is already deployed by communications service providers globally, providing end-to-end confidentiality and integrity for 5G interconnect roaming messages. Oracle's SEPP software was deployed on a Druid 5G “Raemis” core network over Oracle Roving Edge Devices.

The collaboration between Oracle, Druid Software, and NATO highlights the increasing importance of secure and resilient communication networks in modern defense strategies. The need for faster and more effective data sharing is paramount in maintaining a competitive advantage.

The combination of Druid's Raemis platform with Oracle's technologies provides NATO with secure and robust roaming and network federation capabilities, which are essential for interoperability and operational superiority in high-pressure scenarios.

This deal could open doors for Oracle to secure further contracts within the defense sector, as nations increasingly prioritize secure 5G infrastructure. The ability to safeguard mission-critical and sensitive information over communications networks is of paramount importance.

Looking ahead, Oracle's involvement in this initiative is expected to further strengthen its reputation as a provider of secure, high-performance networking solutions. Oracle's stock added 1.9% during yesterday's session, and 22.27% over the past month of trading, yet remains ~15% below the recent highs.
