PureGym Agrees £235m Deal for Swiss Rival NonStop Gym
PureGym, the privately owned UK budget gym chain, has agreed to buy Swiss rival NonStop Gym for £235m, aiming to become Switzerland's largest low-cost operator. Completion is expected on the 2nd of November.
PureGym has agreed to buy NonStop Gym, a 47-site Swiss low-cost chain, for £235m, it announced today. The company claims the deal will make it the largest low-cost gym operator in Switzerland, with more than 100 gyms there by the end of 2026.
The logic is geographic. PureGym says NonStop Gym, which was founded in 2014 and has more than 100,000 members, has a strong reputation in French-speaking Switzerland, while PureGym’s own network is in German speaking regions.
At the 30th of June, PureGym already ran gyms in six markets, with Switzerland among the smaller ones:

The UK remains by far the biggest part of the estate. PureGym, founded in Leeds in 2009, says it has more than 700 gyms and 2.4 million members in total.
The purchase follows Blink Fitness in the US in 2024. NonStop Gym’s team and operating capabilities will be kept, and its sites will be rebranded PureGym in due course.
PureGym describes NonStop Gym as running an efficient, high-margin business model with an attractive pipeline of new gym openings, though the announcement gives no figures to back that up.
