From that low, the shares have now recovered about 21.6%. Today’s close is still just below the 50-day average of $75.32 and the 200-day average of $74.59, and well under the analyst consensus target of $90.14.
The move was not confined to TransUnion. Rival Equifax closed up 7.25% at $161.26, and Fair Isaac rose 6.99% to $769.93. That points to a broader move across the group today, though it is a correlation and not an explanation.
No company announcement or confirmed reason for TransUnion’s move has been found, so the cause of the jump remains unclear.
Third-quarter results are scheduled for the 27th of October before the US open. Last time, on the 28th of July, TransUnion reported second-quarter earnings of $1.07 a share against an estimate of $0.99, and the shares rose 8.5% that day, from $77.24 to $83.80.
