UK Earnings Week: FTSE’s AstraZeneca, GSK, Unilever, Barclays and Rolls-Royce Take Centre Stage

Five of the FTSE 100’s biggest names report this week, giving investors their clearest read yet on how the UK’s blue-chip index is navigating 2026.

AstraZeneca kicks things off Monday with Q2 results. According to Yahoo Finance, consensus expects continued double-digit revenue growth, though scrutiny will fall on pipeline resilience after July’s Wainua Phase 3 setback. With shares still nursing losses from February highs, management’s commentary on its $80bn revenue ambition will be closely parsed.

GSK follows Tuesday amid reports the pharma group faces a £3.6bn sales shortfall versus prior targets, according to recent coverage. Investors want clarity on how newly-acquired Nuvalent assets and the specialty medicines portfolio—spanning oncology, HIV and respiratory—can offset the abandoned camlipixant programme.

Also Tuesday, Unilever posts half-year results. Consensus estimates point to organic sales growth in the 3-5% range as the consumer goods giant balances pricing power against a recovering volume mix, with its recently-spun-off Magnum Ice Cream unit adding a new wrinkle to comparisons.

Barclays, reporting the same day, will be watched for net interest income trends and investment banking momentum. Q1 profits landed near consensus despite one-off charges; the bank’s UK retail unit has faced cost pressure, and rising bad-debt provisions tied to geopolitical risk remain a live concern for analysts.

Rounding out the week, Rolls-Royce reports Thursday, with its buyback programme facing fresh scrutiny alongside free cash flow figures. Shares have rallied into results, up over 4% in the past session alone, as engine flying-hours recovery and defence-spending tailwinds keep sentiment buoyant—though expectations are now elevated.

Collectively, this cluster of reports will set the tone for UK equities heading into August, testing whether pharma, consumer staples, banking and industrials can each justify their current valuations.
