United Oil & Gas Advances Jamaican Exploration with Vessel Contract

United Oil & Gas Plc (LON: UOG) has solidified its commitment to its Jamaican exploration project by signing a contract with TDI Brooks International for the R/V Gyre survey vessel.

This vessel will facilitate the planned piston coring and surface geochemical program on the Walton Morant Licence, offshore Jamaica.

The survey, expected to commence in mid-to-late December 2025, involves collecting 40 to 60 seabed cores from the Walton and Morant Basins. In addition to core collection, bathymetric, multibeam, and heat-flow surveys will also be conducted.

The operations are anticipated to last two to three weeks, with initial results expected in early Q1 2026. This data is crucial for de-risking the basin and attracting potential farm-out partners.

The primary objective of the survey is to confirm the presence of thermogenic hydrocarbons and refine basin modeling. By analyzing geochemical and thermal signatures in the collected data, United aims to strengthen the technical basis for ongoing farm-out discussions. Success in this endeavor could significantly enhance shareholder value by paving the way for future drilling activity.

The company is keenly aware of the challenges faced by Jamaica following the recent hurricane and has expressed its commitment to supporting the country’s recovery.

United is actively working with local authorities to aid relief efforts and maintain engagement with coastal and fishing communities. This dedication underscores the company’s long-term vision for sustainable energy development in Jamaica.

Brian Larkin, Chief Executive Officer of United Oil & Gas, commented: “Signing the vessel contract with TDI Brooks is a major step forward and it sets a clear schedule for a December mobilisation, marking the transition from planning to execution.

“This programme represents a key value catalyst for United, strengthening our technical position and supporting our drive toward a successful farm-out and future drilling activity.”
