Deutsche Bank Stock Forecast

Data compiled by TradingView indicates that of the 20 analysts covering the stock, 8 have a “Buy” rating, 8 have a “Hold” rating, and 4 have a “Sell” rating.

A View From the Bulls: Despite the recent surge in its share price, many analysts remain bullish on Deutsche Bank. Most recently, RBC Capital raised its price target on Deutsche Bank to EUR 29 from EUR 25, keeping an “Outperform” rating on the stock. The bank informed investors in a note that the relative investment case for Deutsche Bank remains intact, as the company is geared towards an acceleration in growth in Germany and has levers at its disposal to improve performance.

Meanwhile, in June, Bank of America analyst Tarik El Mejjad reinstated coverage of Deutsche Bank with a “Buy” rating and a EUR 29 price target. The firm stated in a note that it sees 2025 as the year that Deutsche Bank turns the page on its “perpetual restructuring story.”

A View From the Bears: Despite the bullish case for the stock, the rise over the past couple of years has led some to become more cautious. For example, Kepler Cheuvreux downgraded Deutsche Bank to “Hold” from “Buy” with a new price target of EUR 28, up from EUR 25.50. In a recent note to clients, the firm cited the company’s valuation for the downgrade, noting the strong year-to-date run. Kepler said it is taking a “tactical break” in the stock.
In July, Citi downgraded Deutsche Bank to “Sell” from “Neutral” with a price target of EUR 24.40, noting that the stock had rallied strongly despite the company’s “average” second-quarter results. Citi stated that it sees a lack of evidence that Deutsche is making sales improvements in its Corporate and Private Banking divisions.

Average Analyst Consensus 12-Month Price Target: EUR 28.37

Our View: While the concerns regarding its current valuation are not to be ignored, Deutsche Bank AG has demonstrated a superb turnaround. Its diversified business model and strong market positions, particularly in Germany and across key global financial hubs, provide a resilient foundation. While the current share price reflects much of this recovery, ongoing disciplined execution and the ability to leverage a strong macroeconomic environment will be crucial for continued value creation.

Who Should Buy Deutsche Bank Shares

When assessing Deutsche Bank AG shares, several investor profiles might find it a suitable addition to their portfolios:

A turnaround story in the European banking sector: The successful restructuring presents a compelling case for those seeking a continued recovery play in established financial institutions.

The stability and profitability of core banking services: Investors seeking a company with strong Corporate Bank and Private Bank divisions and looking for exposure to fundamental banking activities may want to look at Deutsche Bank.

Long-term strength in German and European economies: As a leading bank in Europe’s largest economy, its performance is closely tied to regional economic health. Those with a positive outlook on the region may prefer Deutsche Bank shares.
