Poundland Files to Appoint Administrators: Supreme Says Exposure Is £460k

Supreme says its net exposure to Poundland, which has filed to appoint administrators, is £460k, but it cannot yet put a figure on the hit to future profit.

Supreme (LON: SUP), the AIM-listed maker of batteries, vaping products, sports nutrition and drinks including Typhoo Tea, said its net exposure to customer Poundland is £460k after the retailer filed to appoint administrators. The company made the statement in a stock exchange announcement at 10.40am today.

Supreme closed yesterday at 132.5p, below its 50-day moving average of 139.44p and its 200-day average of 143.525p. Its closes since the start of July have run from 130.5p to 152p, so the shares sit near the bottom of that range. The company is worth about £153.4m.

Poundland, the UK discount retailer, filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators yesterday. The filing gives it temporary protection from creditors while it looks for a rescue. Supreme’s announcement is its own statement about what that means for the group, not Poundland’s notice.

Supreme named Poundland as one of its customers, alongside B&M, Home Bargains and Tesco. It said it had taken steps over the past two weeks to limit what Poundland owes it, leaving a net receivables exposure, the money owed after offsets, of £460k.

That is small against the group’s size. Supreme’s revenue was £270.2m in the year to 31 March 2026, up from £231.1m a year earlier, and its net receivables stood at £44.6m on that date, though the figures fall on different dates.

The open question is lost sales. Supreme said the effect on future profit cannot yet be measured, explaining:

Given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Poundland’s future trading arrangements and the extent of its retail estate, it is not yet possible to reliably quantify the potential impact on the Group’s future profitability.

The company’s view is that a significant proportion of demand for its products may be redirected to other retailers and its own direct-to-consumer online sites, which sell to shoppers without a retailer in between.

Supreme said a further update will be provided in due course, and that update is the thing to watch.
