Rolls-Royce Shares Building on Strong 2024, Company To Expand India Partnership

Aerospace giant Rolls-Royce (LON:RR) announced plans to double its supply chain sourcing from India over the next five years. The move is part of a strategic effort to enhance procurement of complex parts for various technologies, including aerospace engines, naval propulsion systems, diesel engines, and gas turbines.

The company currently engages Indian suppliers for high-precision parts and engine components used in civil aerospace, defence, and power systems. Nicola Grady-Smith, Chief Transformation Officer at Rolls-Royce, acknowledged India’s growing importance as a global sourcing hub.

In alignment with India’s ‘Make in India for the world’ vision, Rolls-Royce is looking to expand its partnerships within the country, according to the announcement. The focus is on strengthening relationships with both existing and new suppliers to foster business growth and support advanced production capabilities in India.

Alex Zino, Executive Vice President for Business Development and Future Programs at Rolls-Royce Defence, described India as a vital part of the company’s long-term strategy. The initiative aims to bolster the supply chain, paving the way for joint production opportunities and contributing to India’s ambition of becoming a self-reliant defence powerhouse.

Rolls-Royce is dedicated to supporting India’s armed forces and advancing combat engine technologies. Part of this effort includes a joint venture with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), emphasising the company’s commitment to innovation and collaboration within the Indian market.

Rolls Royce shares are trading up 0.36% on the day and 4.62% since the start of the year, further building on the heady 90%+ in gains experienced through 2024.
