Standard Chartered Shares Hit Fresh 52-Week High

Standard Chartered shares closed at a fresh 52-week high today, up almost a third this year, with the move coming amid a recent broker upgrade and broader strength across FTSE banks.

Standard Chartered (LON: STAN), the emerging-markets focused bank, closed today at 2,338p, a fresh 52-week high and up 2.23% on the session. The FTSE 350-listed lender is one of the UK’s largest banking groups, with operations concentrated across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

The close topped the stock’s previous 52-week high of 2,332p and puts the shares up 32.1% year-to-date. Standard Chartered is now 74.8% above its 52-week low.

Volume of 4.67 million shares was slightly below the 20-day average of 4.96 million, putting relative volume at around 0.94, or roughly 94% of its recent norm, for a stock classified in the Financial Services sector’s Banks – Diversified industry.

Standard Chartered PLC daily close, one year to Thursday 17 September 2026 — shares closed at a fresh 52-week high.

The rally comes alongside a recent upgrade from Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. Analyst Edward Firth raised the bank to Outperform from Market Perform last Sunday, lifting his price target to 2,510p from 2,000p.

That marked a shift from investment bank UBS, whose analyst Jason Napier had downgraded Standard Chartered to Neutral from Buy in July, citing difficulty raising earnings forecasts and lower targeted efficiency gains through to 2028.

Standard Chartered has a market capitalisation of £49.3bn. Shares now trade above KBW’s prior target of 2,000p, though still below its new 2,510p target.

Standard Chartered is next due to report third-quarter results on 28 October.
