Atalaya Mining Copper shares (LON: ATYM) have added 5.29% leading into the afternoon session in London, as news that the prominent copper producer based in Spain, will be included in the FTSE 250 index starting Wednesday 7th May. This inclusion follows an announcement from FTSE Russell, and is seen a significant achievement for the company.

Alberto Lavandeira, the Chief Executive Officer of Atalaya Mining, has described this development as an “important milestone” for the company. The inclusion in the FTSE 250 highlights the company's growing market presence and is expected to enhance its visibility among investors.

Atalaya Mining is well-known for restarting the Riotinto copper mine in 2015, a landmark event that has contributed to its current standing in the industry.

Currently holding a market cap of £572.69M, Atalaya Mining's inclusion in the FTSE 250 is seen as a positive catalyst for potential inflows. The inclusion could attract further capital into the company by virtue of ETFs and other funds that aim to track the index having to buy stock in order to match the FTMC.
