Drax Group (LON: DRX) has named Frank Lemmink as its next Chief Financial Officer, appointing the former Shell executive to the role effective 1 September 2025.

Lemmink, who will also join the board as an executive director, succeeds Andy Skelton, who is retiring after six years with the company. Skelton will remain with Drax until 4 December to support the handover process.

Lemmink brings more than two decades of senior financial and risk leadership experience from Shell, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President of Finance for the group’s Integrated Gas and Upstream business.

During his tenure, he oversaw business performance and led strategic planning to drive long-term, sustainable growth.

His earlier roles at Shell spanned renewables, mergers and acquisitions, audit, and technology. He also chaired Shell’s Capital Investment Forum, managing portfolio risk and capital allocation decisions for major upstream projects.

Prior to joining Shell, Lemmink served as a civil servant at the Netherlands Ministry of Finance from 1993 to 2003.

Welcoming the appointment, Drax CEO Will Gardiner said Lemmink “brings a wealth of experience and skills in financial control, project development, governance and capital allocation gained through over 20 years with Shell and will be a strong addition to the Drax team as we develop opportunities for growth and value creation.”

Gardiner also thanked Skelton for his “significant contribution” to the group since 2019.

After initially dipping at the open, Drax shares are up around 0.8% so far in Tuesday's session.
