Maestrano announced Thursday that a new contract has been awarded by Secure Energy to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Airsight Australia Ltd.

The contract will see Airsight provide a drone-based survey for the new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga in New South Wales to the South Australian border.

The line is part of TransGrid's EnergyConnect project and the Australian government's move to renewable energy. TransGrid manages and operates New South Wales' high voltage energy transmission network.

The contract will last through 2025, with the first pre-built ground surveys starting in 2022. Airsight will undertake high-resolution surveys of the transmission line as it is being constructed.

“Airsight is seeing growing interest from the energy sector as investment in new renewable energy infrastructure increases. This contract will also be our first project using the new Nextcore Lumos LiDAR sensor, which enables faster surveying with higher accuracy,” said Ashley Cox, COO of Maestrano.

The deal is one of several Maestrano has announced this year,  including a partnership with leading US rail inspection firm Holland L.P, announced in late September.

At the time of writing, Maestrano shares are down 1.77%.
