Quantum Computing Stocks Surge — Here’s Why

Quantum computing stocks roared higher on Monday after a landmark U.S.-Iran peace agreement unleashed a wave of risk-on sentiment across Wall Street, sending growth and speculative technology names sharply higher — and amplifying already-building optimism about the sector’s longer-term trajectory.

D-Wave Quantum (NYSE: QBTS) and Quantum Computing Inc. (NASDAQ: QUBT) led the sector’s charge, each surging more than 12% in morning trading. QBTS climbed $2.89 to $26.26, while QUBT jumped $1.17 to $11.10, briefly touching $11.245 — a gain of over 13% at its intraday peak.

Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI) added 8.2%, rising to $22.70, while IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) gained nearly 6%, advancing to $61.18. Trading volumes underscored conviction behind the moves, with QBTS and RGTI each recording over 44 million shares traded and IONQ and QUBT both exceeding 24 million.

The broader tech sector mirrored the enthusiasm, with Nvidia and Micron also posting notable gains as investors rotated aggressively into growth names.

Outlook: Wall Street Grows More Bullish

Today’s rally coincides with a wave of strengthening analyst sentiment. Mizuho raised its price target on QBTS to $35 today, citing the company’s quantum computing roadmap, expanding total addressable market, and improving margin outlook. Stifel has also reiterated a Buy rating on the stock, while B. Riley turned more bullish earlier this month. Rigetti, meanwhile, carries a consensus “Moderate Buy” rating from 13 analysts tracked by MarketBeat.

The fundamental case is also building. IonQ recently reported record Q1 2026 revenue and raised its full-year guidance. And Troy Jensen of Cantor Fitzgerald, writing in Barron’s, argued the sector “is on the cusp of commercialization,” predicting multiple winners as the technology matures.

For patient investors, Monday’s rally may be less of an anomaly and more of a signal of what lies ahead.
