Reckitt Benckiser to Invest $400 Million More in U.S. Over Four Years, WSJ Reports

Reckitt Benckiser Group (LON: RKT), the maker of Lysol and Mucinex, plans to invest approximately $400 million in its U.S. operations over the next four years, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Citing the consumer-goods giant, the WSJ said the investment builds on Reckitt’s existing U.S. supply chain and manufacturing footprint, as the company looks to strengthen its domestic production capabilities and reduce reliance on imports amid shifting trade and tariff dynamics.

The move follows Reckitt’s broader push to deepen its American presence. The company, whose portfolio also includes Dettol, Durex, Finish, Gaviscon, and Nurofen, recently detailed plans for up to $600 million in multi-year U.S. transformation spending across two sites, including an expanded North Carolina manufacturing plant that will become its largest over-the-counter production facility in the country, and a new science and innovation hub at its relocated New Jersey campus.

Reckitt currently employs more than 4,000 people across seven U.S. manufacturing sites and three innovation centers.

The additional $400 million commitment reported by the WSJ underscores Reckitt’s efforts to bolster supply resilience and accelerate innovation in its largest single market, as consumer-health names navigate tariff uncertainty and cost pressures.

Shares of Reckitt Benckiser were largely steady on the London Stock Exchange following the report on Wednesday, last trading around 5,056 pence, down roughly 0.2% on the day, in line with modest softness across the broader FTSE 100.
