Super Micro Posts Record $19.9bn Sales

Super Micro Computer reported record quarterly sales of $19.9bn, almost four times a year earlier and well above analyst forecasts, but thin margins and negative operating cash flow temper the results.

Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ: SMCI) reported record first-quarter sales of $19.9bn, and its shares rose 5.4% in after-hours trading today. That is almost four times the $5.0bn of a year earlier and above the $16.26bn analyst average before the results.

The shares gained 3.4% to $31.48 in the regular session. The after-hours rise of 5.4% followed the release of the figures.

Sales for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 compared with $11.1bn in the previous quarter and cleared even the highest of 13 analyst estimates, $19.48bn. Non-GAAP earnings per share, which strip out certain items, were $1.81 against a 17-analyst average of $1.23 and $0.35 a year earlier. Net income was $1,594m, up from $168m.

Profitability and cash were weaker. Non-GAAP gross margin was 12.8%, up from 9.5% a year ago, but the GAAP figure of 12.7% fell from 17.5% in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. Operating cash flow was negative $434m. Receivables, money owed by customers, rose to $9.69bn from $6.13bn at the 30th of June, and inventories to $15.05bn from $12.90bn. Cash was $6.9bn against $8.6bn of bank debt and convertible notes.

Three rising bars show Supermicro's quarterly net sales climbing steeply, from $5.0bn to $11.1bn to $19.9bn across the three quarters shown.

Guidance was also above forecasts. For the second quarter, ending 31 December 2026, Super Micro expects sales of $19.5bn to $21.5bn against an analyst average of $17.51bn, and non-GAAP EPS of $1.66 to $1.90 against $1.14. Its fiscal 2027 sales range is $72.0bn to $82.0bn, versus a $70.27bn average.

The company said the results are preliminary and unaudited because its financial close is not complete. Shares trade again tomorrow, with London opening in the morning and Wall Street in the afternoon UK time.
